Make the Stars Wish They Had Your Money!

Right now, I'm a stay at home Dad...was in the mortgage biz, which these days is like saying you're a poet (all whimsy, no money). For fun I play bluegrass, and I've been getting into doing different stuff with Photoshop (mostly making my friends family pics embarrassing in a comical way) on my Mac.

My day job ( and quite often evening job as well!) is making handmade confectionery - peppermint creams, treacle toffee, coconut ice, etc. which we sell at shows and a weekly market. My hobby which keeps me sane is handweaving. I am self taught and totally addicted; I can lose myself and any problems when I am weaving. I am also a qualified medieval weaver - there are not many of us around, surprise surprise!!

I'm a Medieval Weaver! Just kidding...you are correct in saying there aren't many of you guys around. How'd you get into that? What's treacle toffee?

Virginia, what's interesting about this is my relatives also were mad candy/confectionery makers. Couldn't
go more than 2 days w/out someone whipping up some fudge, divinity (don't ask), peanut butter rollups,
buckeyes (homemade reese's cups). We are definitely related. Yes, do tell what TREACLE TOFFEE IS.

Treacle Toffee - I use black treacle which you might know better as (I think) molasses? It makes an almost black chewy toffee tasting of treacle/molasses.

Medieval weaving - hummmm. Doing shows with the handwoven bits and bobs got asked by re-enactors to produce authentic cloth for them. Did research - no courses (boohoo!) met up with a research assistant at North Wales University, designed course with her. She was my tutor and I was the one and only student and we had a ball for three months! Now have peice of paper to prove it! I spent four days a couple of weeks ago in an iron age round house doing some weaving on a loom that they would recognise if they came back. I suspect that they were much better at it than I am, my loom is only 100 years old and positively modern by comparison. Now look what you have done - set me off on my favourite subject!

We will have to look into this - do all Teagues have a sweet tooth? This is my new business that I was hoping ASD was going to advertise for me - ah well people still buy at the shows.

Well, when I went to my hillbilly grandparents home as a kid, they used blackstrap molasses as a cure for
pretty much everything. Sick-blackstrap molasses and whiskey. Open wound, bsmolasses & bandaid. Hungry
molasses and biscuits.

I am a stay at home dad who works part time in the appraisal field. For fun I like motorcycles, frisbee, and watching my local Florida sports teams such as the Bucs, Gators, and soon to be world champions Tampa Bay Rays.
